Ruukki Agricultural Institute
Ruukki Agricultural Institute dates back
to the the year of 1859. It has been on it's current place since 1926 on
the riverside of Siikajoki, about 33 km from Raahe and 57 km from Oulu.
The Institute offers upper secondary education in Agriculture for young
people and adults. The total number of students is about 110. The aim of
the education is to give the students basic skills to act as an
entrepreneur or an employee in agriculture.
Ruukki Agricultural Institute has a farm
with 63 ha arable land, a modern cow-house, which was built in 2005, a
small piggery, an Equine sport center with stables for 53 horses, an
indoor arena of 100m x 30 m, a race track etc. The institute has trotters
in training and its own riding horses. Students have free accommodation
and meals during school days.
The studies lead to a Vocational
Qualification of Agriculture. There are two study programs: Agriculture
and Horse care and management. Those who complete the study program in
agriculture, receive the title of rural entrepreneur and those in horse
care management become grooms. Studies last for three years and have a
scope of 120 credits, providing general eligibility for further studies.

and Common agricultural studies in both programs Study program in
agriculture: vocational studies oriented towards plant and livestock
production and farm machinery Study program in horse husbandry: studies
oriented toward horse care and management of equestrian services.
